I had created wimmera.nig.com as a social network for people related to the Wimmera. The idea is to consolidate people into the Wimmera community by developing a social network that provide a place to share information about the Wimmera and connect with others. The fantastic thing about wimmera.ning.com is it is dedicated to to people who have an interest in the Wimmera. Unlike other social network members become a part of the sea of global networks and have difficulty connecting with local people and events.

 

Social networking is important in the future of Internet collaboration as we become more involved in the technology and provides opportunities to reconnect with people and groups. This is our next generation whom will live in a total different world to what we know. Politicians have over the recent Elections both here in Australia and in the United States have been using Facebook and  YouTube  to get access to the thousands of people who use it. They are able to connect with the users in a new way and keep users informed of their politics.  Media Outlets have also found that the use of social networks build relationship up with there consumers and big business have their advertisements placed on YouTube. With smaller groups it very difficult to stand out against the big guys so with wimmera.ning you can consolidate the social network to a focus group.
